This is helpful. My kids are quite young and still learning how to draw. What notebooks do you use? (You have probable mentioned this elsewhere).

I created my own notebooks. You can find them on Amazon but you can’t see the inside here.

I’m also uploading them to my website. Here you can see the inside of many of them. I still have to complete uploading them.

Thanks! We are just dipping our toes in. We started with one notebook for first grade. How many notebooks do your Form 1 students have?

One for history and one for science. I also have one for geography. We are using CM geography book.

One more question, as I am so new to this. What about kids whose handwriting is still developing? Notebooking has been a challenge because we are still working on letter formation. Sometimes I write for him but have him copy a few words or a sentence. He’s a leftie, which I think has made it harder? Unsure! I don’t want to push too hard too early just because I’m jazzed about notebooks.

I have a daughter in first grade and I write down what she says and she traces my handwriting. So it’s like copy work.

Yes, your tips do help. We have used notebooking before and took a break this year to try something different with our co-op. But my children and I are ready to get back to notebooking for history and science again.

Thank you for this. Yes please, need more tips please. How do I encourage my son (1st level) to get into notebooking more (without me prompting him to do it)?

1st grade can be hard. This is how I do it with my 1st grader. She orally narrates and I write it down. Usually just one sentence even if she tells me more. Then I have her trace what I wrote. This is a form of copy work too. She enjoys drawing and coloring so the picture and extras is easy for her to complete.
