Why Apologetics
Dear Mama,
Hi Friends!
I would like to briefly discuss the importance of teaching your children apologetics.
What is apologetics?
“Apologetics is a branch of theology devoted to the defense of the divine origin and authority of Christianity.” - Merriam-Webster.
In our homeschool, we dedicate one day to apologetics. It’s moved around during the school year. Right now it’s Thursdays. I teach it alongside logic and worldview. It is a fun-packed day.
I started teaching apologetics because I want my children to have a solid foundation for when they encounter different worldviews. I want them to be able to defend their faith with strength and courage.
We cannot take our children’s faith for granted. We must teach them the habit of nourishing it every day.
My daughter also had really good questions that needed to be answered appropriately, and apologetics is the resource required.
When we teach apologetics, worldview, and logic, we are sharing different cultures, religions, and perspectives. This allows them to know and understand the truth.
Currently, we are reading through the Case for Christ for kids, which my daughter is enjoying.
Do you teach apologetics to your children?
Warmly,
Mirley
