What is the purpose of minimalism?
Dear Mama,
I am a bit of a minimalist. It’s a little challenging to keep up, especially with children and now with homeschooling.
Usually, when discussing minimalism, the benefits are the primary focus. Benefits of minimalism include spending less money, having less stuff to clean, experiencing less stress, and more. But what is the purpose?
It wasn’t until I was reading The Little Pilgrim’s Big Journey that I understood the purpose of living with less.
When Christian is traveling with his friend Faithful through Vanity Fair, they learn that all these beautiful gimmicks and trends are meant to distract you and, in their case, keep them from going to the Celestial City.
In other words, the purpose of minimalism is to keep our hearts focused on the Lord. Without that purpose in mind, minimalism is empty.
Warmly,
Mirley
