Teach Catechism
Dear Mama,
I grew up Baptist, so I never heard of Catechism as a tool used in Protestant churches. This wasn’t until I entered the homeschool world.
When I started homeschooling, I heard about catechism and why it’s good to catechize your children.
“Catechism is merely basic instruction in Christian doctrine using questions and answers.” Voddie Bauchman Jr., Family Driven Family, p. 121.
Catechism is a tool used to teach biblical theology in a simple question-and-answer format. It helps lay the foundation for discipleship.
If we do not teach the answers to biblical theology questions, the world will.
Some tools to help you catechize your children include:
* Westminster
* Heidelberg
* Truth and Memory Book
* New City Catechism (I use this one)
* Teaching Truths, Training Hearts
* Training Hearts, Training Minds
Do you catechize your children?
Warmly,
Mirley
