Sunday Planning Vol. 4
Does notebooking increase vigor?
Dear Mama,
This week, my husband was away on a work trip, so I didn’t have the time to write. Although I do plan my week and school keeps going, I don’t have the time to blog. However, this week I was able to carve out some time to give you tips on planning your week and notebooking. I will also be sharing with you what I’m doing for my mother-culture.
Warmly,
Mirley
Plan Out Your Week
Keep your Bible Time simple. Just Bible, verse, hymn, and a prayer. Anything more can feel heavy and tiring.
Take a break in your homeschool to go on a quick nature walk. This could be a walk or two around the block.
Find a day in the week to print out all of your handouts for the week. This saves time when going from one subject to the next.
Notebooking 101
Does notebooking increase vigor?
Notebooking encourages the student to think for themselves. You see your student’s thinking processes in their writing, creativity, and diagrams. Notebooks should look different from one student to another because the information is personalized. As students become more confident in their notebooking, they will require less of the instructor’s help.
What I’m doing for my mother-culture
My mother-culture currently includes Person of Interest by J. Warner Wallace. In this book, Wallace uses his detective skills and background to see if Jesus is truly who he says he is by cross-examining him with other religions and tales of the time. Truly fascinating.
For my non-fiction book, I’m reading The Awakening of Miss Prim by Natalia Sanmartin Fenollera. I cannot say if I’m totally into it yet, but it has sparked my curiosity. Basically, a very well-educated modern woman is having all of her beliefs challenged. This makes it an intriguing read.
Lastly, I’m rereading Home Education by Charlotte Mason. I’m reading this book section by section. Each section may take 3 to 10 minutes to read. I feel like I am understanding her philosophy more by reading slowly.
Unfortunately, I haven’t had much time for watercolors or baking, but I hope to make time for it in the upcoming week.
