Dear Mama,
One of my favorite things about homeschooling is learning to watercolor. I never imagined that would be a benefit of homeschooling.
On most Sunday afternoons, I make a point of practicing watercolor. I still cannot come up with prompts or images on my own, but at least I am learning the strategy behind watercoloring.
My favorite watercolor teachers are:
1. Mallery from @malleryjaneart. Mallery teaches you the techniques of watercoloring, including perspective, color theory, shadows, and more.
2. Whitney from @brighterdaypress. Whitney has a wonderful watercolor class that my kids and I are enjoying. We work through one lesson every Monday. She has excellent watercolor books that also teach you how to watercolor.
3. Emily from @emilylexstudio. Emily has the most wonderful watercolor books. She is excellent at teaching you how to mix colors using only 12 colors. She says you don’t need more colors than that.
I find this time of watercoloring important in my routine because it helps me relax and be creative. Mixing watercolors and creating the correct shade is a great way to slow down and focus on one thing. Watercoloring on Sundays helps me get ready for the week.
What hobbies has homeschooling allowed you to learn?
Warmly,
Mirley
