Dear Mama,
Long ago, I taught high school history, and we used the Teacher’s Curriculum Institute method. This method introduced me to Bloom’s Taxonomy (a framework for promoting higher levels of thinking) and notebooking. When I started homeschooling, I began following the Charlotte Mason method, which introduced me to narration.
What I did was combine both TCI and the Charlotte Mason method for notebooking and narrations. This combination has been wonderful in our homeschool. The children learn more than narrating. They can dissect maps, poems, primary sources, diagrams, etc.
As a result, I created notebooks that adapt to both methods. This style of notebooking ensures growth, critical thinking, and analysis. It has been wonderful to see cognitive growth in my children.
If you are looking for a good notebooking or narration resource, I created a wonderful notebooking menu to help you keep narrations fun and enjoyable. I hope this helps!
Download a copy of the picture and use it in your classroom.
Warmly,
Mirley
