New House, New Kids Corner
Dear Mama,
This summer, we will be studying the Birds Bees using books and recommendations from the Birds Bees course.
In addition to reading books, we also teach our children about boundaries in our home. We teach them that their bedrooms are private and off-limits. I believe this is a good value to learn because we adults don’t go wandering into our hosts’ bedrooms. They are off limits.
To accommodate the children, we have a kids ’ corner. Our new kids’ corner is now open, located in the living room area adjacent to the kitchen. I believe a small dining table is usually in that area.
The purpose of the kids' corner is to provide a safe space for children to play while we, the adults, discuss. All the toys in the corner are intended for sharing with guests. Toys that the kids don’t want their friends to play with are to be left in their bedroom.
We recently had guests over to our home, and the parents loved this idea. We are talking, and no one is running to the rooms to check on the kids. We were actually more relaxed and at ease as the children played.
Do you have a kids’ corner?
Warmly,
Mirley
