Morning and Evening Bible Time
Dear Mama,
“Our children are falling away because we are asking the church to do what God designed the family to accomplish. Discipleship and multi-generational faithfulness begins and ends at home.”
-Voddie Baucham Jr.
One of the reasons I have chosen a Charlotte Mason style education is because she emphasizes that the Bible is the foundation of all education. To be honest, I do believe God led me to Miss Charlotte Mason’s homeschool education because I had been praying for Him to help me build a solid foundation for my children.
Anyway, as a result of following a Charlotte Mason education, we now read the Bible in the morning and read catechisms at night.
Ephesians 6:4 tells us to bring our children up in the “discipline and instruction of the LORD.” Therefore, we have a duty as Christian parents to educate our children in God’s way. Our church is meant to be a support system.
So how do we do this? Each family will accomplish this in a slightly different way. In today’s post, I want to share how I’m getting this done.
Morning:
- Read memory verse
- Read Bible story
- Pray
- Hymn
Evening:
- Catechism (I’m using Training Heart, Teaching Minds by Starr Meade).
- Poetry
- Pray
- Hymn
Having this rhythm is a great way to lay down a solid foundation for ourselves and our children.
How do you do Bible time at home?
Warmly,
Mirley
