How to Make Portfolios
Dear Mama,
I love making portfolios af the end of the year. It’s a great way to bring the school year closer. Additionally, it's enjoyable to reflect on the progress the student has made.
Note*** I do not live in a state that requires portfolios. So what I share may or may not help you.
I. The Materials:
- folders with a cover pocket
- post-it tabs
- sheet protectors
- pens
- cover sheets made in Canva
II. The Method
1. Simplify: Type out covers for each subject.
2. Organize: Have your student select two assignments from each subject they liked best.
3. Beautify: Allow your student to decorate the cover page.
I also enjoy writing a brief cover letter to describe the upcoming school year. Additionally, I evaluate each student and my relationship with them.
When I’m done, I put them in a file box and throw away the notebooks. The portfolios keep me from storing everything.
Does this post help you out?
Warmly,
Mirley
