How to give children beauty
Dear Mama,
Today, I’m going to discuss how to instill beauty in our children. I must start by acknowledging that this is a weakness of mine. I’m good at giving truth and goodness, but have a hard time with beauty.
Don’t get me wrong, I love beauty. I love beauty in nature, architecture, fashion, and many other things. However, I have not been able to bring it into the home. I think I’m part of it because it’s not my talent, but also because I've embraced minimalism, thus eliminating beauty. Minimalism can be great, but if there is no beauty, it’s just bland and uninspiring.
“If they grow up steeped in Scripture and truth, beautiful and life-giving practices, and the sacrificial example of love at home, chances are they will carry these virtues with them.”
- Sally Clarkson.
This quote from Sally Clarkson made me realize the importance of incorporating beauty into our home. From now on, I will do my best to incorporate beauty into the house through books, flowers (fresh or dried), and decor.
I have seen how much my children enjoy our home because of the decor. This doesn’t have to be limited to Christmas, but can be enjoyed all year round.
How do you include beauty in your home?
Warmly,
Mirley
