For the Children’s Sake
Dear Mama,
For the Children’s Sake was the first book I read on the Charlotte Mason method when I was first recommended to follow her footsteps.
My favorite quote in the book is when she described how Charlotte Mason “let them [the children] enjoy beauty in nature, writing, art, music, and the Bible as God’s word to them. She left them a precious childhood house free to climb trees, explore woods, walk, ride, what have you.”
What a beautiful childhood experience! To give them the tools to love learning.
So why do I homeschool? Really, for two reasons: 1) because I believe God has called me to and it is my duty to trust and obey Him, 2) for the Children’s Sake.
- For the children’s sake, we sacrifice and serve our children.
- For the children’s sake, we teach using living books.
- For the children’s sake, we go out in nature to study it.
- For the children’s sake, we read books and poetry together.
- For the children’s sake, we cultivate habits and life skills.
- For the children’s sake, we read the Bible together daily.
Charlotte Mason said, “Education is an atmosphere, a discipline, a life.” Using Charlotte Mason’s method, we are creating a love for learning that goes beyond the “classroom”.
Warmly,
Mirley
