Family Bible Time
Dear Mama,
I am thrilled and excited to join forces with some friends to share resources and tips that will help us, as Christian parents, cultivate a #bibletimelegacy.
Today, I am sharing with you our Bible time rhythm. I was convicted when I realized that my role as a Christian parent is to teach my children diligently about the Word of God (Deuteronomy 6:6-7). Pastor Voddie Bauchman Jr says, “Discipleship and multi-generational faithfulness begin and end at home” (Family Driven Faith, p.9).
If we want our children and our children’s children to be strong and faithful Christians, then it is our duty to teach the Word of God at home.
I didn’t start homeschooling to teach the Bible daily and diligently. God led me here.
As a result, we have Bible time Monday through Friday at the dining table during breakfast. On the weekend, I’ll read a story with Biblical principles. We focus on:
- Daily Bible story using the ESV Seek and Find kids Bible
- memorize one Bible verse per week
- Pray
- and learn one hymn per week.
It’s a beautiful time to lay down a strong Biblical foundation. I desire that my children know and love the Truth and have the strength and courage to defend it.
We cannot and should not depend on “the church to do what God designed the family to accomplish” - Voddie Bauchman Jr. (Family Driven Faith, p. 9). This is why it is so essential for us to make Bible time a priority in our family culture.
What does your Bible Time look like? What resources do you use?
Warmly,
Mirley
