Charlotte Mason Resources
Dear Mama,
So you’re thinking about homeschool and want to follow the Charlotte Mason Method, but don’t know where to start. Well, today I’m going to share with you some resources to help you get familiar with the Charlotte Mason Method.
Before you begin, check what the laws are regarding homeschooling in your state.
Next, start reading and learning about the Charlotte Mason method.
Books
1. For the Children’s Sake: This was the first book I read when I was introduced to Charlotte Mason. The author gives an overview of the method and how she discovered Miss Mason.
2. Charlotte Mason Volumes: Charlotte Mason wrote six volumes where she outlines her method, as well as other information. If you have younger children, I would start with volume one, then jump to volume six.
3. In Vital Harmony: This book helps you understand Charlotte Mason’s twenty principles and ties them together for you to understand how they work.
4. Charlotte Mason Companion: This book helps clarify some of the topics that Miss Mason discusses in her volumes.
Podcasts/YouTube
1. Simply Charlotte Mason: SCM is a great podcast & YouTube channel that helps clarify the CM Method.
2. Commonplace Podcast: This podcast goes through all 20 principles in detail. She also has a YouTube channel that goes into other Mother-Culture topics.
I do believe getting a well-rounded understanding of the CM method will help you in your homeschool journey.
Do you have any questions or suggestions?
Warmly,
Mirley
