2024 Summer Schedule
Dear Mama,
In a couple of weeks, we will conclude our school year and begin summer school. Summer school is different every year, but basically, we have morning time and finish up any courses we still need to complete.
For Morning Time, we will be using the curriculum from A Gentle Feast. I really love this curriculum. We used it last year, but didn’t finish it because of all the extracurricular summer activities.
I plan to create a summertime basket for each child, filled with activity books, reading books, and a summer handicraft project. I’m going to allow my children to choose a project to work on during the summer. Handicraft kits can be found at Target and Michael’s.
As for summer activities, my children will attend VBS and spend time in the pool. I grew up going to VBS and loved it. It was the highlight of my summer. What’s wonderful is that my kids love VBS, too! So we will be VBS hopping.
Morning Time: A Gentle Feast Summer Curriculum
- Bible
- Beauty Loop (hymn, poetry, nature study, art, composer, fable, folk song)
- Read Aloud: we are starting Harry Potter this year
- Drill
The Feast
- Math (finish math book)
-History (finish History book)
Tea Time
- Brighter Day Press summer curriculum
It is a lighter load, and once “the feast” subjects are complete, we will only do Morning Time until classes resume in August.
What does your summer schedule look like?
Warmly,
Mirley
